Prior to E3 2015, rumors flew that Mark Cerny was brought in to help finish The Last Guardian, a title that has been long in development. However, in an interview with GameInformer, Shuhei Yoshida put those rumors to rest. Sony President of Worldwide Studios stated,

The rumor is not true that Mark Cerny came in and is finishing the project. Mark is giving consultation on the project. He's been doing it for many of our projects. He's been working with many of our studios, especially technically, he knows the ins and outs of the PS4. He's giving lots of technical advice to The Last Guardian team. The team is primarily in the Japan Studio, but creative direction is done by Ueda-san and members of GenDesign. It's a new studio.

The studio GenDesign is being led by Jinji Horagai, the AI programmer for Yorda in ICO. Following Shadow of the Colossus, Horagai and Fumito Ueda went their separate ways, as did some other lead developers for Colossus. All, however, are working on The Last Guardian, which, according to Yoshida, is still primarily Ueda's vision.
