Last year, Sid Meier's Civilization VI, the newest entry in the lauded strategy game series, released on PC to critical acclaim. The game is set to get its first huge expansion next year in Rise and Fall, but before then, Aspyr Media announced today that they have partnered with Firaxis and 2K to release Sid Meier's Civilization VI on iPad.

This makes Sid Meier's Civilization VI the first title in the mainline Civilization series to be playable on iOS. The game's interface has been reworked from the ground up to work with touch controls. Surprisingly, the will be priced regularly at $59.99 on iPad, but it is currently available at a launch discount of $29.99. This just includes the base game, so players won't get access to previously released DLC content or expansions.

That being said, the first 60 turns of the first game a player creates are free-to-play, so players can decide whether or not they want to make such a large investment for a mobile game. The iPad release will even contain local multiplayer in addition to the regular multiplayer modes. The game will require iOS 11 to run properly, and will only run on an iPad Air 2, iPad 2017, or iPad Pro.
