Christophe Gans, the director of the 2006 Silent Hill film recently participated in a video interview in which he claimed that there are "several [Silent Hill] games in development." The interview was in French, but it was translated on gaming forums, and IGN confirmed the translations to be correct. "I'm working with the Silent Team," he stated. "The original creators at Konami." Though it was not confirmed, this is understood to be for a new Silent Hill film.

He then claimed that the game publisher currently has multiple teams working on a "big line of games," supposedly. "They will revive the franchise," he added. "I think they were really impressed with the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games." Gans even went on to directly confirm that the development studio Bloober Team is working on a Silent Hill 2 remake, that being only one of the "several teams."

Bloober Team is a Polish development studio best known for its horror games. The studio centered itself around horror titles after the success of its 2016 game, Layers of Fear. It is also responsible for 2019's Blair Witch and 2021's The Medium. It recently announced a sequel called Layers of Fears for 2023.

There had already been previous rumors that Bloober was working on a Silent Hill project, mainly purported by insider Jeff Grubb. A partnership with the IP's owner Konami was announced back in 2021, the purpose of which was stated to be "jointly developing selected contents." Bloober has also directly confirmed that it is working on a project with Konami, though official details are slim.

Grubb had also claimed that several Silent Hill projects were in development. According to him, besides Bloober making the Silent Hill 2 remake, there are three other games in development; Silent Hill 5, a smaller spinoff, and "a western game published by a western studio." It's worth repeating that these are only claims with no evidence to back them up. With that being said, a Silent Hill game was recently rated in South Korea called Silent Hill: The Short Message. Many speculate this is the spinoff Grubb spoke of due to its name.
