Dragon Quest is extremely popular in Japan, so it's no surprise that Sony counts on the upcoming Dragon Quest Heroes to revitalize sales of the PS4 in the archipelago of the rising sun.

Things seem to be going quite well, as the silver PS4 console "Dragon Quest Metal Slide Edition" has already evaporated on the local branch of Amazon, selling out in about a day despite the fact that it basically forces customers to pay for a download voucher of a game which will be released over three months after the console.

On top of that the PS4 version of the game itself is now dominating the "best sellers" chart, having pushed down Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, with the console bundle itself now ranking second. The PS3 version, on the other hand, is just 5th.

It'll be interesting to see Dragon Quest Heroes will finally manage to give a solid push to the chugging PS4 truck in Japan. If there's one franchise that can, that's Dragon Quest.
