Electronic Arts (EA) has reportedly been sending emails to players regarding a playtest for Skate 4 which is planned to begin next month.

Skate 4’s existence has been known since 2020, but updates have been few and far between since the game’s announcement. It would appear development has been progressing well, however, as leaks are circulating on social media of an email EA sent out to players in their playtesting program.

Well-known industry insider Tom Henderson has reported that the playtest will be happening from July 5 to July 8.

Screenshots of the email read: “As you may have heard, skate. is back, and we’re already having a lot of fun. Our goal is to build the game that our community is asking for! Based on your responses from the Player Categorization survey, we’re excited to invite you to sign up for our upcoming playtest where you will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the game!”

“This is a very early look at the core features of the title and this playtest will give you a glimpse into the future of skate - you don’t want to miss out! Your feedback is highly valued by the team and will give us insight on how to shape the game.”

Fans of the series have been waiting quite a while for a sequel, so it’s natural that EA would want to incorporate feedback from the community. EA CEO Andrew Wilson let slip in February that Skate was close to launching and that it would have methods of including user-made content in the game.

The game is likely near completion if EA is willing to let players test it, but after user feedback from the playtest filters in Skate 4 will likely go back to being tweaked for a few months prior to its release. It’s not out of the question that Skate 4 will be released during the 2022 calendar year, however.
