Easy Day Studios announced its upcoming skateboarding simulation game Skater XL has been delayed from its original July 7 launch date.

In a post on the Skater XL community page on Steam, Easy Day Studios confirmed the 1.0 launch will now be on July 28, just a few weeks after its original release. This includes the Steam release, as well as the physical and digital versions for PS4 and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch version will launch on a later date, with details set to be revealed "in the coming weeks."

It is not entirely clear why Skater XL is delayed. However, they state it is due to variables out of their control, and that they are continuing to polish the game to make it "the game you all deserve at launch."

"Despite our best efforts, and due in part to things out of our control, we will be moving the launch of Skater XL 1.0 on Steam, as well as the physical and digital launch on Playstation 4 and Xbox One, to July 28th," says the post. "We will also be announcing a new launch date for Nintendo Switch in the coming weeks. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to finalize the game."

If you are looking forward to Skater XL, but kind of bummed about the delay, do not fret. Between now and the new launch date, Easy Day Studios will show more new content and features that will be available in the launch version.

While Skater XL's full launch is just a bit further, you can check it out via Steam Early Access. I have played a few hours of the Early Access version, and I dig Early Day Studios' approach to the skateboarding sim. Where Session is more of a hardcore skateboarding sim, Skater XL is more laid back, in the same vein as Skate.
