Skullgirls Fundraiser Nears $300,000 in Donations, New River King Casino Bonus Stage Announced

on March 4, 2013 8:30 PM

Lab Zero’s Skullgirls fundraiser is still chugging along and the combined donations have so far cleared $298,000. The team has today updated the fundraiser page with both good news and bad news. The bad news is, they’d apparently gotten a bit ahead of themselves by announcing the Leviathan (Leviathan being the parasite that shares a body with Squigly, the game’s forthcoming DLC fighter) themed hat accessory for use in the online shooter Team Fortress 2 as one of the donation rewards.

There’s been a bit of a mix-up and they are working on a consolation prize, but as of right now the Leviathan hat for TF2 is no longer going to happen.

Now, the good news. The team also announced today that as a “thank you” to the community for the overwhelmingly positive response to this fundraiser, a brand new stage is being developed for the game, to be released as DLC for free. This stage is not related to the fundraiser, but is more of a gift to the game’s fans for being so awesome. The early concept draft of the stage can be viewed below. The team wishes to keep fans updated on each stage of the development process of this stage, so expect frequent updates over on the fundraiser page.

The next DLC character for Skullgirls – Big Band – is still roughly $75,000 from being funded. The ¬†fundraiser will be continuing for nearly four more weeks, so there is still plenty of time to meet that goal. We’ll keep you updated here and be sure to check the fundraiser page for more information.
