Bethesda Softworks should be extremely proud of their game, having won multiple GOTY awards from countless publications and taking over the lives of young men and women. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has just won its biggest award yet.  The hugely engrossing fantasy RPG has won the Big Apple Award for Best Game from the New York Videogame Critics Circle. It’s a great organization that is helping gaming culture thrive in the Big Apple.

“We created the Critics Circle not only to talk intelligently about games but to also become a vibrant force in New York City,” says Mr. Goldberg who was one of the critics that voted for Skyrim, ““We want to spread the word that the best games can be as artful and soulful as movies and books, so its proper that we have an organization like this here. Having these awards is a part of that process.” While Skyrim wasn’t my personal Game of the Year, it is definitely a tour-de-force when it comes to gaming and a title that will live inside many PCs, Xboxes and PS3s for a long, long time.

Awards were also given to Portal 2 for Best Writing and Crysis 2 for most New York-centric game. Go figure. You can check out the full list of winners by visiting the Critics Circle website.
