Slay the Spire, a card-based roguelike game by Mega Crit, will be available in the form of a board game in the near future. Contention Games has taken the helm to translate this video game into a board game.

While there are not much details available around the project at the time being, Contention Games has revealed that the board game of Slay the Spire will feature a co-operative mode with up to 4 players. It's yet to be shared that how a co-operative mode will work and what kind of co-operation players could perform in the game.

Turning all those abilities, relics, and enemies into a board game would probably require a whole lot of cards, especially now that it has a new co-op mode as well. That being said, those behind this project will probably find a better way to translate Slay the Spire to a board game as they have already released another board game in the same genre. However, the bigger question is how they can make it play as enjoyable as the video game itself.

Slay the Spire is one of the greatest card-based roguelike adventures that you can ever find in the gaming market. The game features some deeply detailed gameplay systems, but it's not complicated at all. Probably the biggest miracle of Slay the Spire is the fact that you can get used to it easily.

The game was originally launched back in 2017 in early access phase with a few number of maps and characters. However, the developer supported the game with more new content over the time and turned it into one of the most enjoyable experiences within the genre.

Slay the Spire is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, and PC. If you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you can play it for free.

Slay the Spire board game will be released in Spring 2021.
