Developer MegaCrit fully released their roguelike deck-builder Slay the Spire early this year. The game has since been ported to Nintendo Switch and PS4, while quickly becoming a critical and commercial success. The team announced today that they are bringing a fourth playable class to the game. Because of how updates work across the various platform, the fourth character will start in beta on PC and then move to other consoles via a free update after public testing is complete.

To unlock the new character, players will have to beat the game with the Defect unlocked. Fortunately, if you've already done so, you won't have to do it again. For those players, the new character will be available immediately when you start the game. Along with the fourth character, the update adds new relics, new potions, balance changes, and other surprises. Additionally, the team announced a few other pieces of news today.

MegaCrit revealed that they've been working with their publisher Humble Bundle to bring physical editions to market. Those editions are now available for pre-order on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. The team also announced that composer Clark Aboud is putting out a special vinyl edition of the game's soundtrack. Like the physical editions, the vinyl is available now for pre-order.

Slay the Spire is currently available on Linux, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC, and PS4. If you own the PC version, go try out the new beta update. If you play the game somewhere else, the update will be made available soon.
