Sleeper Hit Alert: Runespell: Overture Hitting Steam Tomorrow

on July 19, 2011 12:00 PM

Fans of Puzzle Quest, Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes HD, and any other recent puzzle RPGs should take note of yet another hybrid fantasy “epic” hitting the Interwebs tomorrow. Runespell: Overture is a fantasy game that mixes the mechanics of RPGs with the strategy and gameplay of poker (as in the card game) to create the weirdest mish-mash of a hybrid puzzler we’ve seen yet.

That’s not to say it’s terrible; I’ve been steadily playing this one over the weekend, and it has the potential to be just as addicting, if not moreso, than Puzzle Quest, which I pumped at least 80 hours into.

We’ll have a review up hopefully by the end of the week, but you can trust me on this one: it’s a winner. You can find Runespell: Overture on Steam right here.

Allen is an utter whore of a gamer; he's completely open-minded to all games, be they AAA blockbusters or $5 casual children's games. His focus is on indie games specifically, valuing gameplay and ingenuity over sparkly visuals and ridiculous gimmicks. When he's not geeking out over the newest art game, he's out toning his sexy, sculpted shoulders while surfing epic 1.5ft waves, or having a good time with local, high-gravity microbrews.
