Nintendo has revealed the story mode for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, titled "Adventure Mode: World of Light", with an amazing and emotional cutscene.

We see all 74 base fighters in the game face off with some kind of light made by multiple Master Hands fused together. Multiple rays of lights are shot, imprisoning all characters they touch as Spirits. The characters resist the onslaught but end up falling one by one.

Except for Kirby, who manages to escape, a feat that may confirm his position as the strongest fictional character of all time.

Adventure Mode: World of Light has you starting with Kirby alone, as you explore various worlds based on all the game franchises included in the game a la Kingdom Hearts. The worlds are represented in a top-down view, with multiple stages, puzzles, and fights. Kirby must face off against evil clones of the characters and liberate them one by one, making them playable in the mode. The characters can also level up and be customized with a skill tree system that has a similar feel to Final Fantasy X's Sphere Grid.
