Sniper Elite – The Board Game Drops In On Kickstarter

Sniper Elite - The Board Game looks like a reverse take on Fury of Dracula and includes a miniature of Hitler getting shot in the nuts.

After a short delay due to COVID-19, Rebellion Unplugged has officially launched their Sniper Elite – The Board Game Kickstarter campaign. It’s an asymmetrical board game for 2-4 players. It looks like Sniper Elite takes a page from the Fury of Dracula rulebook in setting up its gameplay. Except, in this case, the singular player is the one on the offensive. Check it out.

In Sniper Elite – The Board Game, one player takes on the role of sniper Karl Fairburne. Up to three other players control squads of Germans trying to defend their base and find Karl. As with Dracula in FoD, Karl’s movement is hidden and the other players will need to use their skills and wits to decipher his location.

It’s a careful mix of mechanics to make it all work. For example, each German squad has a character with a powerful ability that can be used twice per game. So, do you take them on the attack when you find Karl? Or keep them behind to protect high-value targets in case Karl escapes? Choices like those are what make games like Sniper Elite interesting.

Of course, that’s not the only intriguing part of the game. Look, I was fully prepared for Rebellion Unplugged to have quality components. What I wasn’t prepared for was a miniature of Hitler getting shot right in the naughty bits as part of the Deluxe Edition. Sign me up.

Sniper Elite – The Board Game is available now on Kickstarter. The campaign runs for 20 more days at the time of writing, giving you plenty of time to hop in. If you’d like to watch the game in action, the crew at The Dice Tower did a full playthrough. Check it out below.
