Last April, CI Games released Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, the newest entry in their long-running sniper FPS series, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Unfortunately, the game was riddled with issues and received pretty negative reviews across the board (including DualShockers' own). Fortunately for CI Games, that FPS niche still entices quite a few players, so Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 has sold pretty well.

Across PC, PS4, and Xbox One in both digital and physical formats Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 has sold over 1 million copies. The game's success also allowed CI Games' fiscal year of 2017 to be profitable, with 24 million Euro in revenue. CI Games' Chief Executive Officer Marek Tyminski had the following to say about the company's financial performance and the sales of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3:

"Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 was the biggest title we’ve ever developed and published, and despite a middling media reception upon release, we have continued to work hard to improve the game, and have managed to come out relatively successful with this title."

Unfortunately, this announcement did come with a bit of bad news, as CI Games announced that they have significantly downsized. Its internal development studio now only consists of 30 employees, with CI Games relying on a network of subcontractors for the development of its next title, a currently unannounced tactical shooter. Marek Tyminski also commented on this situation:

"The decision to downsize the studio was the toughest decision I have taken over the past years—it is never easy to let go of friends and colleagues with whom we’ve worked for years-however I truly believe that it was the best way to move forward. Quality is not only extremely important to our upcoming tactical shooter, but it is important to every game we will bring to the market. The difficulties we faced during the development and launch of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 were major lessons for us.

We now believe in smaller and leaner development teams when it comes to succeeding in this very competitive industry. At the same time we are proud of our team’s efforts and we sincerely want to thank everyone who was part of the journey of developing Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, as without them we could not have even attempted to deliver a AAA-caliber game to players around the world across three platforms."

Finally, Marek Tyminski gave a small update on Lords of the Fallen 2, which has had a tumultuous development. CI Games is supposedly in talks with "several established studios" about the game's development, and hope to "move forward with a new partner in the next few months."

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. We will be sure to let you know when CI Games divulges more details on their unannounced tactical shooter and Lords of the Fallen 2. Our best also goes out to everyone who may have been affected by these layoffs at CI Games.
