On January 6, after initially teasing the event again, SNK suddenly announced the postponement of the KOF 15 reveal stream that was coming January 7. The stream was scheduled for January 6, 6 PM PT, or January 7, at 03 AM ET, and would have revealed the first trailer for The King of Fighters XV, KOF 15.SNK did not give a particular reason for the postponement. In a follow-up tweet, the studio apologized to the fans who were waiting for the KOF 15 reveal and the Samurai Shodown (2019) Season Pass 3 info.

KOF 15 came back in December 2020 with a special message. The message video, featuring KOF 15 producer Yasuyuki Oda, and creative director and current KOF chara designer Eisuke Ogura, revealed new character designs for the first time. We got to see how Kyo Kusanagi, Benimaru NIkaido and protagonist Shun’ei will look like in KOF 15.

SNK mentioned a new date and time for the KOF 15 reveal will be confirmed and announced soon.

The King Of Fighters XV was first announced in December 2018, for a 2020 release. However, we never actually saw the game yet. The game's release was furthermore teased at EVO 2019 in August. The game suffered development delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, preventing SNK from following-up with more news. As such, fans are eagerly waiting for the reveal event.

No platforms were announced for KOF 15 yet. SNK already promised that following the reveal event, additional details will regularly release in 2021.

SNK also recently had 33% of its shares bought by MiSK, the non-profit foundation of Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, which is now the largest shareholder. Moreover, its ultimately planning to own 51% of the shares.
