A Solid Gold Version of Sony’s PS5 Console Is Up for Grabs

Caviar has introduced a luxurious Sony PS5 console made from 20 kilograms of solid gold.

If you have a few thousand dollars tucked away under your mattress, why not spend it on an 18 karat gold PS5. It’s not like there’s a shortage of them or anything, right? The Russian luxury accessory website, Caviar, has announced that a solid gold version of Sony’s new PS5 console is up for sale to one lucky buyer. The luxury item in question is an extremely rare console called “Golden Rock” and boosts genuine leather, stones, and gold.

Taking inspiration from the unique geometry of the gold ore, the solid gold console is fused together using 18 karat gold and weighs 20 kilograms and assembled from 8 separate sheets. Making sure the DualSense controllers are just as opulent, the gamepads are made from genuine crocodile leather and golden inserts where the touchpad would normally be. “The case of this exclusive gadget is made in the original jewelry technique, which adds volume and texture to the model”, Caviar states on their website.

While Caviar has not announced how much this console will be and has only allowed those interested to request a price, I think it’s very clear that most of us couldn’t afford something like this making it probably the most expensive PS5 console ever. Currently, 18k gold price in the US is around $46.227, so Caviar’s lavish console could be somewhere over the $900.000 mark. I’m fairly sure that a wealthy collector will snag this, placing it in their massive hilltop mansion behind a glass screen and only to be looked at over a glass of expensive champagne.

We saw last year a 24k gold PS5 which seems to be on the cheaper end if you’re really looking for something like this. But personally, give me the chance of actually owning one first and then having the opportunity of customizable faceplates, then I’ll be a happy gamer. While we may not get our hands on a solid gold PS5, Sony’s lineup consists of three very solid PS Plus titles that include the PS5 version of ShaRkPG Maneater, the third title in the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and action-RPG Greedfall, all of which will be available to download right now.
