At first sight, Song of Memories appears to be your usual harem visual novel with cute girls, lots of fanservice and lots of smiles, but there is more behind that surface.

Today developer Pure Wish released three trailers featuring the game's dark side, or to be more precise, the second half of the game, in which a pandemic turns the protagonists' life upside down.

The first video below shows the second opening cutscene that marks the radical change in mood for the game. We also get to see a scene in which the hero escapes from school with Kanon, and one in which he interacts with the members of the Idol group Dream4U.

If you want to see more, you can check out more videos here, here, here, here, here and here, and a batch of screenshots here. Of course, those show the much brighter first half of the game.

Song of Memories will release in Japan on April 27th, exclusively for PS4.
