The original Sonic Colors was released as an exclusive for the Nintendo Wii, but now Sonic Colors Ultimate is set to release soon for multiple platforms.

3D Sonic titles have been rather hit and miss over the years, but there is no question that Sonic Colors was one of the best of the group.

This is why people have been hoping to see a new version of the game for a while now and that is finally here with the Sonic Colors Ultimate release that is coming this week for some purchasers.

What Is Sonic Colors Ultimate?

Sonic Colors was a Wii exclusive that came pretty late in the Wii's life cycle, which meant some people missed out on it entirely.

The game is largely considered one of the very best 3D Sonic games, as it focused on what people enjoy best about the 3D games in the series. In fact, people have said it's basically Sonic Unleashed without the Werehog levels that people were not major fans of when it was released.

Sonic Colors Ultimate is an HD remaster of that game, this time with an additional Wisp being added into the mix as well.

When Does Sonic Colors Ultimate Release?

The official release date for Sonic Colors Ultimate is September 7 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, but there is also a form of early access associated with one version of the game.

By purchasing Sonic Colors Ultimate Digital Deluxe Edition, you will gain access to the game starting on September 3, giving you four days of extra gameplay compared to those who just get the regular version of the game.

As for the specific time that the game releases, that may depend on the platform and how the marketplaces handle it. While still a remaster, the game is a big release and could go up at midnight on the respective stores. However, it is also possible it might not be released until the morning of for each as well.

How Much Is Sonic Colors Ultimate?

There are two versions of Sonic Colors Ultimate to choose from at release, with only a $5 difference between them. The base version of Sonic Colors Ultimate will retail for $39.99 and is available in both physical and digital forms.

Then comes the Sonic Colors Digital Deluxe Edition that retails for $44.99 and is only available through digital marketplaces. Getting this version will get you the game four days early, exclusive music, gold and silver wearables, exclusive player icons, and the Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Boost.
