Coming off the release of Sonic Mania this summer, this fall fans of the Sonic series will have another chance to go fast with the upcoming Sonic Forces, while the fan favorite Shadow the Hedgehog will get his time in the spotlight in the upcoming platformer.

SEGA has announced a new DLC add-on for Sonic Forces will be released called "Episode Shadow," which will provide a series of new stages and will feature Shadow the Hedgehog as a playable character. "Episode Shadow" will be available at launch as a free add-on for all players that purchase Sonic Forces.

Specifically, the new DLC will act as a prequel to the events of Sonic Forces and, according to a description from the episode's trailer, promises to explore "Shadow's allegiance, the fate of Team Dark, and the origin of the mysterious villain, Infinite."

Alongside the added story content, the DLC add-on will also provide three new stages starring Shadow the Hedgehog, while players will also have the option to play as Shadow in "over 10 Modern Sonic stages" in replaying levels from the game.

Sonic Forces will release for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on November 7th, 2017 - in the meantime, you can get a closer look at the upcoming "Episode Shadow" DLC with the add-on's gameplay trailer below:
