Sonic Generations Demo Hits Consoles Today, But…

on June 23, 2011 12:00 PM

It’s an odd day to be releasing a demo, but nonetheless, the demo for Sonic Generations, SEGA’s latest effort to keep the blue hedgehog relevant, hits the PSN and XBL Marketplace today. After playing some of it at E3, it’s definitely a step in the right direction, so check it out while you can.

…and I say “while you can” because apparently the demo will only be available for 20 days. Come July 12, all versions of the demo will disappear from PS3’s and 360’s around the world, almost as if it never existed to begin with. The worst part of this is that the PSN is still not up in Japan, and the expiration date for the demo is firm. If PSN goes live in Japan on July 11, surprise, they only get one day to play the game.

Why SEGA is doing this, I’m not sure; I don’t even think SEGA themselves know why. Regardless, if you’re remotely still interested in the Sonic franchise, this is definitely worth checking out.
