In the midst of the wide array of news that dropped this morning ranging from Death Stranding to The Avengers Project, PlayStation also divulged just which games will be made available for free starting next week for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

For starters, the 2017 2D platformer Sonic Mania will be available for free. This entry in the long-running (pun intended) Sonic series is a throwback to the games of old where Sonic and friends first got there start. It's perhaps the best Sonic game to have released in recent years, if not one of the best ever.

Next up is that of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which is a bundle containing both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-SequelThe Handsome Collection just happened to have received an all-new update boasting 4K graphics a little over a month ago, so its addition here is pretty great timing.

In my own opinion, this is probably the best month that PS Plus has had since Sony cut back the offerings to only two PS4 games every month. While your taste might differ from my own here, I think Sonic Mania is still one of the best platformers of the past few years. Plus, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection hitting PS Plus will allow you and potentially some friends to revisit some of the past entries in the series before Borderlands 3 releases this September.

If you want to see Sony's typical promotional video for this coming month's PS Plus games, you can find it below. Both Sonic Mania and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will be available for PS Plus subscribers starting next week on Tuesday, June 4.
