Sega released new information about their upcoming 2D platformer Sonic Mania,  coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC on August 15.

The trailer details the game's "Competition Mode", which allows players to track clear time, score, number of items acquired, number of rings acquired when clearing the level, and total number of rings acquired throughout the level. In this mode, players will be able to adjust the rules of each match by chosing items in the item boxes and number of rounds that take place.

Sonic Mania has the visuals and gameplay from of Genesis-era Sonic with New Zones, Bosses, and three Playable Characters, all presented at a gorgeous 60 FPS. In the span of 25 years, Sonic has collected countless rings across various Zones, and Sonic Mania revisits what it was that first made Sonic great, giving players a chance to experience classic Sonic on modern consoles.

In case you missed it, Bonus Stages and Time Attack Mode trailers were also released.
