SEGA has confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog will be speeding onto Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD and he'll be encased within his own blue ball. The remaster of the game was announced earlier this year and then confirmed to be heading West. We saw a gameplay trailer back in August showing what we can expect from the title.

While players will be able to play the game as the usual monkeys that Super Monkey Ball fans all know and love, they will also be able to stand a chance at playing as Sonic providing they unlock him.

The details behind unlocking the speedy hedgehog in Banana Blitz HD aren't known, but players will be able to take Sonic through 100 courses.

Sonic's character's lowest statistic is his life, and size sitting at 3/5. His jump, bounce, size, and weight at 4/5 and his speed sits at the highest hitting 5/5. Gameplay footage was also released, showing Sonic in action, speeding through the twisting courses and gathering the classic rings sonic loves to grab.

Banana Blitz HD will not only introduce 100 singleplayer stages but also 10 multi-player stages. You'll be able to compete against the world with online leaderboards for the Time Attack and a brand-new Mini-Game Decathalon will be available in the game.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD is set to launch onto Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One later this month on October 29.
