Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Ends With Episode 2

I’m not entirely sure what Tails had to do with it, but I’m positive he did something to dissuade Sega from continuing to release Sonic the Hedgehog 4 after Episode 2. Maybe it’s that adorable mug. Whatever the reason, Sonic Team producer Takashi Iizuka told Digital Spy he’s excited to hear what kind of feedback fans have on the downloadable game, but that Sega is “not planning to release another episode.”

As a sort of return to form for the series, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 was a total 2.5-D sidescroller in the vein of the first three numbered games in the series. You ran from left to right collecting rings and cursing under your breath as contact with an enemy made you drop them all at once. What might be next for the Blu Blur?
