Sonic the Hedgehog Teams Up With OK K.O.! for a Heroic Crossover Episode

Cartoon Network's OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes and Sonic the Hedgehog will be crossing over in a new episode. Fans can catch the event in August.

San Diego Comic-Con is always filled with surprise reveals and announcements, with this year’s being no exception. Cartoon Network announced through its official Twitter a special crossover event between the network’s animated series OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes and Sonic the Hedgehog:

The episode is titled “Let’s Meet Sonic,” and will see both Sonic the “fastest thing alive” Hedgehog and Miles “Tails” Prower as they visit the plaza and team up with KO to save the day. This episode will also be available for viewing on the Cartoon Network app.

It’s pretty awesome to see how many references have been jammed packed into a minute long clip. I honestly can’t wait to find out how many more shoutouts, easter eggs, and callbacks the episode will feature. And judging from the quality of previous crossover episodes in this series, Sonic fans will be sure to be pleased. Check out the full teaser trailer below.

OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes is about a naive youngster named K.O. who aspires to be a superhero in a video game-inspired world set in Lakewood Plaza. He’s the newest employee at Gar’s Bodega, the go-to spot for hero supplies and a bonding place for K.O. and his co-workers/best friends, human Enid and alien Radicles.

Meanwhile on the Sonic the Hedgehog side of things, the latest bit of continuing news has been on the upcoming live-action adaptation. Recently the movie has been delayed to 2020 in order to allow the FX artists more time to rework Sonic’s design from scratch. The movie’s executive producer Tim Miller even weighed in on the design controversy. And for an opposing opinion, read our piece as to why the redesign was a mistake.
