In a time where everyone seems to be cooped up inside, Paramount Pictures has announced that last month's theatrical release of Sonic the Hedgehog will soon be able to be watched from the comfort of everyone's own home.Beginning later this month on March 31, Sonic the Hedgehog will be able to be purchased digitally on a variety of platforms. The digital version of the film will retail for $19.99 on a variety of different services. Meanwhile, if you'd prefer to hold out to wait for the physical release, Blu-Ray and 4K editions of Sonic the Hedgehog will launch a bit further down the road on May 19.

While not explicitly stated, it seems as though Paramount opted to release Sonic the Hedgehog digitally this month since movie theaters have all but shut down at this point due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. With no one going to theaters and everyone looking for things to keep them entertained while inside, Paramount apparently just decided it would be best to make the movie available for watching at home right this second. In all honesty, it's probably a really solid plan and will continue to increase the funds that the film has already earned at the box office.

If you haven't watched Sonic the Hedgehog already, I'd definitely recommend giving it a look once it arrives later this month. While it's not the most groundbreaking movie ever made, it should be more than capable of giving you a few good laughs throughout its duration. Hopefully, we get an official sequel at some point down the road.
