Following a flood of backlash, the Sonic the Hedgehog movie was delayed from 2019 into 2020 earlier this year in order to change Sonic's design. Now, executive producer Tim Miller has recently commented on the redesign for Sonic in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

"This is a franchise, and it has to be great," Miller said, speaking to Variety. "Look, I was with fans and so was Jeff. When the s-t hit the fan, I went over there and said, the most important thing to do, man, is say, 'I f-ked up.' He'd already sent out a tweet an hour before I got there. He's a good man. It was exactly the right way to handle it. The fans have a voice in this too. There's a right way to listen."

When asked if he's seen the new designs, Miller said that he has and he thinks fans will be pleased. The film was originally supposed to come out this November but has since been pushed back to Valentines Day 2020 in order to alter Sonic's look. Sony originally had the rights to the film but Paramount picked it up last year when the movie rights lapsed.

Sonic is being voiced by Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey plays Sonic's infamous rival Doctor Robotnik. The films also stars James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Neal McDonough, and Adam Pally. The film is being written by Josh Miller and Patrick Casey and directed by Jeff Fowler.

We'll have to wait and see if Miller is correct and that Sonic's new look will please fans when Paramount decides to show off the film again in the future.
