I never thought I'd see the day where the producer of acclaimed Hollywood franchise The Fast and the Furious would be bringing us a live-action motion picture based on beloved gaming icon Sonic the Hedgehog. But, here we are. IGN has revealed the first look at Sonic in his upcoming film. We cannot even see anything but a silhouette - but it's enough to realize how awfully creepy he looks and how disproportionate he seems to be. Maybe it's the pose, who knows.

The poster comes almost exactly a month after the release of POKEMON: Detective Pikachu's first trailer, in which fans were split between liking the characters in live-action and hating them. I personally think the live-action Pokemon seem to have been created with care and attention. It's not much to go on - but this poster does the opposite for me. I think it's his eyes. Yeah, it's definitely those weird eyes and awfully pointy nose.

Sonic isn't meant to have eyes like that! At least I hope those are eyes. This is just a silhouette and I'm feeling nervous - can you imagine when the actual trailer releases? I'm probably gonna have nightmares for weeks. Let's hope the fact that Sonic is a silhouette makes him look bad, and not that he actually looks awful. I'm not holding my breath, however. I'll reserve a full opinion for actually seeing him in the... flesh? Oh, God.

Sonic the Hedgehog releases in cinemas in November 2019. Ben Schwartz provides the voice of the speedy hedgehog, with the rest of the cast including James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Mrs. Wachowski, Lee Majdoub as Stone, Frank C. Turner as Crazy Carl, and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik.
