It isn't too difficult to send the internet into a frenzy these days, especially if you're Sonic the Hedgehog. Most recently, the official poster of the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie set the world aflame, with a disturbingly "realistic" version of the character. The movie now has its own active Twitter account, which was used to respond to comments on Sonic's unusually buff legs.

"Can't a guy workout?" says the account's first original tweet. A sign obscures the film version of Sonic, which has yet to be fully unveiled as of yet. Below the sign is a pair of exaggerated muscular legs, probably not the final look for them but rather just a gag. Anyone who has ever followed Sonic the Hedgehog social media accounts should expect this tongue-in-cheek tone.

As the tweet reminds us, moviegoers still have nearly a full year until the film is released. Sonic the Hedgehog will star Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Jim Carrey as Dr. Eggman, and James Marsden as a cop that Sonic goes on some sort of buddy trip with.

The film's release date is November 8, 2019, with 2019 also bringing the Detective Pikachu film in an apparent contest to creep audiences out the most. Until then, expect to endure a long and arduous publicity campaign. Buff Sonic is here to stay now.
