During a dedicated press conference Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Managing Director Fergal Gara just announced that the new PCH-2000 PS Vita model, nicknamed for the occasion PS Vita Slim, will be released in UK on February 7th, 2014.

The unit is slimmer and lighter than the previous model, and comes with a LCD screen instead of the OLED screen of the PCH 1000. It also includes 1 GB of internal memory and allows for an additional hour of gameplay before needing to be recharged. It will retail at £179.99.

While in Japan the portable console was launched in a variety of colors, only the black version has been announced for the UK, at least for now.

At the moment of this writing nothing has been shared about a North American launch, but we’ll keep you updated  soon as Sony Computer Entertainment releases further information.

Below you can see two videos released by Sony Computer entertainment UK with the first unboxing of the new console and a comparison between the PCH-1000 and the PCH-2000.
