Since its launch last November, the PS4 has been doing wonders for Sony, and to some has been truly earning its promise that “greatness awaits.”
Likewise, the public has responded incredibly well as Sony’s new console has sold well over 5.3 million units so far since the console’s launch in November 2013, and as of February 8th, 2014. For a system only 3-4 months into its life cycle, it’s quite an impressive feat.
To put its sales into perspective, so far the PS4’s 5.3 million sales already are nearing the Wii U’s lifetime sales of 5.86 million units (as of January 29th, 2014), with the Wii U having a yea-long lead over the PS4.
In addition, the PS4’s sales exceed those of Microsoft’s Xbox One, which currently stands around reports of 3.9 million units, and while the PS4’s 5.3 million units are a great start for now, it is surely to get an higher boost once it reaches its launch in Japan on February 22nd, 2014.
