Sony Mentions Possibility of Digital Game Pre-Loading on PS4, Company Still “Considering” It

With the increasing size and scope of downloadable games on consoles, many fans have been asking for the ability to pre-load games like on PC that would then allow the game to be easily and effortlessly unlocked for play on the day of release.

A Sony representative mentioned that the company has been “considering” the possibilities of adding digital game pre-loading to titles on PS4, with rumors circulating from a tweet by Sucker Punch Productions that pre-loading would come to PS4 in April.

Sony has not announced any official details or a timeframe of when pre-loading would come to the new console, but the company mentioned their awareness of demand for the feature and have been reviewing possibilities for it. A Sony representative mentioned:

“We know that it is the feature you’ve been asking for and we are considering it accordingly. We do not have specific details to announce at this point in time, but stay tuned for upcoming announcements about system updates and added features.”
