Sony Might Not Offer the Digital PS5 for Preorder in the Middle East

Sony Might Not Offer the Digital PS5 for Preorder in the Middle East

The PlayStation Arabia Twitter account is giving some mixed messages about preorders.

Update: A Saudi Arabian games retailer has confirmed through Twitter that the digital PS5 will be available at launch, however, there will be no preorder for it. The rest of the region remains unconfirmed.

The original story can be found below.

The price and release date for the PlayStation 5 were revealed last Wednesday during Sony’s PS5 Showcase announcing that the next-gen system would be available on November 12 for North America, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand and on November 19 for the rest of the world. However, for countries covered by PlayStation Arabia, it seems like the digital-only version of the PS5 won’t be available for preorder.

The marketing and release for the upcoming PS5 have been all over the place, so at times it’s unclear how to decipher some of the information being presented. If you compare tweets from PlayStation’s many regional Twitter accounts, you’ll see that accounts for places like Australia, the UK, and Spain have all posted about preorders for both the PS5 and the digital PS5. However, looking at the PlayStation Arabia account, it clearly says that preorders for the PS5 have gone up, but says nothing about the digital version and excludes it from the promotional image tied to the tweet.

While it’s clear that the digital PS5 will be available in the region, it’s unclear why it was left out of the preorder information. This might potentially be because of the scarce number of digital units compared to the regular ones, or it might simply be the result of some unclear marketing. Either way, the difference in promotional images from region to region suggests that the preorder might vary depending on where you live.

For those in countries like the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman, you can preorder your PS5 through the PlayStation website or through local retailers.
