Ubisoft and Sony Pictures are one last slit throat away from closing the deal on an Assassin's Creed movie. Well, maybe not a slit throat, but negotiations have come pretty far.

After an intense bidding war between Sony, Universal, and several other studios, last summer Ubisoft opened Ubisoft Motion Pictures in preparative for a transmedia expansion. Ubisoft's conditions for signing on with Sony include the parent company closely monitoring production and maintaining creative control; this will hopefully save Creed from going the way of terrible past video game flicks.

Sony Pictures has very big plans for the movie, stating its hopes of making the adaptation into a major release. With its time jumps, colorful characters, and intricately woven plot, Assassin's Creed has great potential in branching out into other media.
