A posting on a newly-launched Sony website developed for prospective advertisers has indicated that the company may eventually start producing and publishing original programming for their PlayStation Network service. The site was originally registered by Sony Pictures is the umbrella for Sony Pictures Television, the studio involved in shows such as Breaking Bad, Justified, Hannibal, The Blacklist, and Masters of Sex, among many others. The following passage was cited by TheSixthAxis:

From the #1 studio worldwide, Sony Pictures, comes a series of original shows ranging from comedy to reality to sports. PlayStation Productions is dedicated to bringing high quality, professionally produced content to the PlayStation Network. Sponsorship and product integration opportunities are available upon request.

Netflix has had a measurable amount of financial and critical success with their own original programming in shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. Sony could very well be looking to emulate this concept of original programming.
