Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly working with a newly formed developer studio, Ballistic Moon, to make a triple-a title for the PlayStation 5.

According to Ballistic Moon's official LinkedIn page, they are "currently developing a new game with a world-leading publisher", with a Twitter post from the previous week stating the studio is using Unreal Engine 5 to create their new game. It was unknown at the time what publisher Ballistic Moon would be working with, until the resume of the motion capture actor, Joshua Archer, accidentally listed the company as Sony Interactive Entertainment. Archer has previously worked on acclaimed titles such as Until Dawn and Horizon Zero Dawn.

A ResetEra post by Toumari indicates that the upcoming AAA title has a placeholder name of Project Bates, whilst Ballistic Moon described the development process to be in the "early stage" in the job listing. The studio is currently hiring software engineers, lighting artists, and other roles to work on a new major project. Details surrounding the newly developed PlayStation 5 exclusive game is limited, and it could be a while until we learn more about the project.

Fans have started speculating that Ballistic Moon will likely focus on a single-player narrative game, given the new team behind Project Bates previously worked on games such as Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology under the Supermassive Games brand. Ballistic Moon aims to expand its developing team with new talented names with the financial support of Sony. It is worth stating that fans should take these speculations with a pinch of salt since nothing about the game has been confirmed yet.

As for Ballistic Moon, the London-based indie studio was formed in 2019 by veterans like Neil Mcewan, Chris Lamb, and Duncan Kershaw. They have already proven themselves in the gaming industry. Duncan previously held leadership positions at SEGA, Electronic Arts, Square Enix, and THQ, as well as taking the role of Executive Producer at Pixar. Chris Lamb, on the other hand, worked as lead engineer on Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. Neil Mcewan has also made a name for himself with his excellent work on multiple AAA titles such as House of the Dead: Overkill and Syndicate.
