Originally released last year on PC, Stoic Games’ The Banner Saga drew great praise and success for its unique visuals and tactical strategy action, and while PS4 and Xbox One versions of the title are on the way for early next year, the previously-announced PS Vita appears to have been saved from development troubles, courtesy of Sony.

In a tweet from PlayStation’s director of third-party relation and developer relations Gio Corsi revealed that Sony will be partnering with publisher Versus Evil to provide support for the PS Vita version of The Banner Saga, with “more news in 2016” on the port to be expected.

The PS Vita version of The Banner Saga had been previously announced by developer Stoic Games and publisher Versus Evil, though the PS Vita port of the title ran into development troubles leading the studio to put it on hold while working on the upcoming PS4 and Xbox One versions of the title, and the upcoming sequel The Banner Saga 2.

Instead, Sony appears to be stepping in to help see the PS Vita version of The Banner Saga to fruition, and while it has been a bit of a long time coming, luckily it seems the portable version of the title won’t be lost to financial or development troubles.

The Banner Saga is currently available for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android – the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the title will release on January 12th, 2016, while the PS Vita version is currently in development.
