Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment's mobile arm ForwardWorks announced that its latest title Arc The Lad R passed 500,000 downloads since its release on August 23rd.

While this isn't a smashing success, it's certainly not bad for a franchise that has been left to gather cobwebs on a shelf since the PS2 era.

In order to celebrate, the publisher announced the distribution of several freebies to help out new players get started.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, Arc The Lad R is a mobile game for iOS and Android with a brand new story and new protagonists. It's developed by Aplus Games, which recently released Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time, and is also working on Kill la Kill The Game: IF.

Of course, it follows the usual free-to-play model with optional microtransactions and gacha.
