SoulCalibur VI Might Get Another Guest Character as DLC

Geralt of Rivia might not be the only guest character Soul Calibur VI after all, even if a possible further addition would come as DLC.

SoulCalibur VI features one of the coolest guest characters in a fighting game with Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher, but could there be more?

DualShockers had a chat with Producer Motohiro Okubo at Gamescom 2018 in Cologne, and we asked whether more guest characters could come down the line.

Okubo-san mentioned that there will be six DLC drops in the season pass. The first will be is Tira, three more will be additional characters, and two will be character customization packages. The “possibility exists” that one of these three unannounced characters might be a guest from another franchise. That being said, Okubo-san said that at the moment Bandai Namco is still finalizing the plans for the DLC.

At that, I mentioned in jest that I heard that SNK likes to give its characters pretty much to everyone nowadays. Okubo, who worked as Producer on Tekken 7, confirmed that there was a lot of positive feedback for Geese Howard, and SNK was very happy about it, so there is a very good relationship between the two companies.

At that, I suggested (still in jest, of course) that since Harada-san [Tekken big boss Katsuhiro Harada] isn’t giving us Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza he could be in SoulCalibur VI instead. Okubo-san responded that Kiryu might indeed be more suitable for Tekken, while it’s important to choose characters for SoulCalibur who match the series’ world.

If you want to see more of SoulCalibur VI, you can check out the reveal of Azwel, and the Libra of Soul story mode, that lets you create your own fighter.

You can also read Okubo-san’s comments on the current situation of the SoulCalibur franchise, and on the possibility of a Switch version.

SoulCalibur VI will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 19th, 2018. You can already pre-order the game on Amazon.
