Bandai Namco revealed this past week that Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher franchise would be coming to SoulCalibur VI as a new guest fighter. A bit after his unveiling, Bandai Namco also revealed the game's box art, which also prominently features the White Wolf.

The box art for SoulCalibur VI recently appeared on retail websites and it contains Geralt front-and-center next to SoulCalibur veteran Mitsurugi. Clearly, Bandai Namco is trying to capitalize on the popularity of The Witcher and his inclusion in the game, which isn't a bad strategy to entice newcomers to the series.

While it might seem strange for some to see Geralt featured so prominently on the cover of SoulCalibur VI, it's nothing new for the series. Guest characters have been gracing the cover of SoulCalibur games since SoulCalibur II which featured Link, Spawn, and Heihachi on the respective GameCube, Xbox, and PS2 versions of the game. SoulCalibur IV also featured Yoda and Darth Vader on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, while Ezio from the Assassin's Creed series appeared on the box art of SoulCalibur V. So yeah, Geralt being front-and-center is nothing new.

Below you can find the full cover art for SoulCalibur VI, as well as each of its mockups on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. For now, SoulCalibur VI doesn't have a release date, but it's scheduled to arrive at some point this year for the aforementioned PS4 and Xbox One, in addition to PC.
