Many PC gamers have been worrying that the fact that upcoming title South Park: The Stick of Truth is set to be published by Ubisoft would force players to use the uPlay launcher. Happily, this won't be the case, as confirmed today by developer Obsidian.

uPlay

From the sounds of things, if the game is bought through an alternate storefront, Steam being the most obvious, it won't require a seperate verification on uPlay before the game can be played.

Over the last few years, many Ubisoft games on Steam have been the target of criticism for a double DRM policy, wherein games bought through Steam would then need to be launched again through the separate uPlay launcher.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is set to release March 4 this year.
