Space Engineers Update Introduces Beacons and Shortcut Commands

on November 21, 2013 11:15 AM

The newest video tutorial from the Space Engineers alpha shows off the use of Beacon Blocks and the Copy/Paste/Delete functions, the former of which helps players navigate their surroundings, the second showing off how your ordinary Ctrl+C/V/X shortcuts can be used for quick actions in the game.

These features will be available in the 1/007 update, and can even be used for more than just quick editing, as seen in the video below. Players can copy an item and let it hover near them, and after running and picking up momentum, let it go to crash into nearby obstacles, effectively a form of telekinesis while in sandbox mode.

Space Engineers is available on Steam Early Access for $14.99, which comes with some good perks for early adopters. Born and raised in video games and "geek culture," Masoud has been bred off of fantasy worlds his entire life and doesn't see anything wrong with that. He loves RPGs (especially TRPGs), sandbox games, the sci-fi genre, dieselpunk, art deco, and anything that allows him to create. Having graduated from John Jay College with a degree in English and a minor in Creative Writing, Masoud hopes to one day pen the same novels, comics, movies, and video games he enjoys escaping into when the real world gets too boring.
