To celebrate the upcoming launch of Halo 5: Guardians, Microsoft re-enacted the duel between Master Chief and Spartan Locke at today’s Nascar Sprint Cup race at the Kansas Speedway, by sponsoring two cars and painting them in liveries inspired by the two protagonists.

Master Chief was painted on the Dale Earnhardt Jr’s Hendrick Motorsports #88, while Jamie McMurray proudly carried Locke’s colors on his Chip Ganassi Racing #1.

While neither of them won the race, Locke came on top, placing 20th at the end, with Master Chief following in 21th position, but one lap behind the rival.

Interestingly, Earnhardt and McMurray have been very close to each other almost for the entire race. Earnhardt’s race also encountered a snag when he had to pit during green flag on lap 166 due to problems to the car.
