I enjoyed what I played of the new Resident Evil game, Operation Raccoon City.  To summarize, the game, which will be released on March 20, 2012, features squad based shooter-style gameplay in a parallel timeline to the core Resident Evil games.  It is a vastly different style to the standard survival horror based gameplay of the nearly all of the previous games in the series.   So while I was already looking forward to actually playing it without a Leroy Jenkins on my team, Capcom also seems to know that I am a fan of special editions.  Hit the jump to see the contents.

Operation Raccoon City, like so many games these days, will have pre-order specific bonuses to go with each retailer.  2 special weapons and one unique costume for each character will be specific to each retailer will be "awarded" to those who pre-order at GameStop, Amazon or Best Buy.  However if you get the special edition of the game, you need not worry about missing out on the weapons, as you will get them all.  In addition to the special weapons, the special edition will also include a steelbook case, a foil sleeve and two unique Umbrella themed patches.

All in all, while I hate the concept of retailer specific bonuses, including them in the special editions is something that should happen.  Sony has been doing it, and it's good to see other companies picking up on the concept.  I'm also a sucker for a nice steelbook case, so that too is a plus.  No pictures of the special edition yet, but when we get them, we will be sure to post them.  There is no word on price, but if this is a Special Edition that is only a mere $10 more, it might not be a bad pickup.
