Gameindustry.biz reported that Marvel’s Spider-Man is doing gangbusters as it has been crowned the fastest-selling game of the year in the United Kingdom. Far Cry 5 previously held the record, but what’s even more impressive is that Far Cry 5 was available on multiple platforms. Furthermore, Spider-Man nearly doubled the number of copies God of War sold when it launched back in April.
The title has also become the fastest-selling Marvel game in history. LEGO Marvel Superheroes originally held that title but it looks like Spider-Man has beat its record by quite a lot. It’s a fantastic year to be a PS4 owner with exclusives such as Shadow of the Colossus, Detroit: Become Human, God of War, and now Marvel’s Spider-Man.
Also, another PS4 console exclusive ranked second on the top chart for the month, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. While it’s not all too surprising that an iconic hero like Spider-Man beat out an old-school JRPG, it’s still nice to see the longrunning series get the love it deserves. You can see the full list from the U.K. down below:
|Last Week||This Week||Title|
|New Entry||2||Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age|
|3||3||Grand Theft Auto V|
|4||5||Crash Bandicoot: N.Sane Trilogy|
|2||6||Pro Evolution Soccer 2019|
|6||7||Mario Kart 8: Deluxe|
|New Entry||8||Destiny 2: Forsaken|
|12||10||LEGO The Incredibles|
It’s important to note that the chart above does not include digital sales, which is why we likely see Destiny 2: Forsaken at a lower spot even though it launched this week. It’ll be incredibly interesting to see where the end of the year takes us in terms of sales, with titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Red Dead Redemption 2 still coming. This will definitely be an iconic year for video games.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is available right now exclusively on PS4, you can buy the game over at Amazon if you’d like. You can also check out our review where we awarded the game the highest score we can give.
