Gears Tactics Developer Splash Damage Partners with Google on a Stadia Project
The developer behind Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Brink and Dirty Bomb is working with Google to develop an exclusive title for Stadia.
Officially launched later last year, Stadia still doesn’t seem to find its place among the gamers’ community. Although the service is only available in several countries of the world, the lack of a strong library of games is the main problem with Google’s streaming platform so far. Fortunately, Google is working on the issue and they’ve made a deal with Splash Damage recently on a Stadia exclusive game.
Revealed by the studio itself, Splash Damage is officially in charge of a brand new title coming to Stadia. While the developer hasn’t provided any specific details on the project yet, a look at their previous work may give us a faint idea of what they may be cooking up.
We’re so excited to finally announce that we’re working with @GoogleStadia on an exclusive title!

Despite being an independent studio, Splash Damage has helped Microsoft a lot over the last years in the current generation. They’ve worked on Gears of War Ultimate Edition and helped 343 Industries to remaster all Halo titles in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The team has also worked on Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 multiplayer sections.
Going over the studio’s original projects, they are the team behind Brink, a multiplayer-focused parkour-shooter mix that was published by Bethesda back in 2011. Later on, in 2014, Splash Damage launched Dirty Bomb as a free-to-play shooter for PC gamers. Currently, the team is working on Gears Tactics as their main project, which is set to be released on April 28.
Despite having third-party developers’ support, Google’s first-party studios are yet to reveal their Stadia-exclusive titles. With Microsoft’s Project xCloud arriving as a fully available service as we get closer to the end of this year, Google will be in need of a game-changer to win the competition against the Redmond giant.
Borderlands 3, Doom Eternal, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, and Red Dead Redemption 2 are some of the notable games available on Stadia right now, while titles such as Watch Dogs Legion and Cyberpunk 2077 will be joining the library later this year.
