Splatoon 2 just doesn't stop. Today saw the announcements not only of a free 3.0 update which includes new maps, clothing, and more, but also a single-player expansion where you play as an Octoling.

Let's start with the free update. Version 3.0 is going to include more than 100 new pieces of gear, three new maps including Piranha Pit, Camp Triggerfish, and Wahoo World, and a new Rank X which is higher than the game's current skill ceiling: S+.

The update will be launching in April.

Then, this Summer will see the release of Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion. It will feature 80 new missions from the Octolling underground. You can check out the trailer for that below. The 90's Hip Hop references are strong with this one, including nods to Tupac and Biggie.

Players are able to pre-purchase the upcoming DLC now, for $19.99, which will allow them to access Octo-themed in-game gear now before the DLC even comes out.

Splatoon 2 released on July 21 of last year and has included heaps of free content drops ever since. You can check out the releases of the Octobrush Nouveau and Undercover Brella here. You can also check out the game's upcoming Starter Edition which comes complete with a strategy guide and more here.
