Today Nintendo revealed its plans for two competitive tournaments that will be taking place at this year's Entertainment Electronics Expo (E3 2017).

First off we have the Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational. Four teams - "Deadbeat" from the United States, "Dynameu" from Japan, "Rising Moon" from Europe, and "Blue Ringed Octolings" from Australia/New Zealand - will be facing each other for the first time. The grand prize will include a Splatoon 2 trophy engraved with the player's name's, as well as some much expected bragging rights.

During the first round, each of the four groups will be competing in a round-robin Turf War, where the teams will face each other in order to determine the seeding of the next round. Then, after the round-robin is completed, each team will compete in the game's Ranked Battle mode. The company has confirmed that the semi-final stage will be a best-of-five battle, while the final will be a best-of-seven.

The Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational will take place on Tuesday, June 13th, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. PDT. (5:30 p.m. EDT)

The other tournament announced was the 2017 ARMS Open Invitational. Before the tournament, any E3 attendee is invited to visit Nintendo's booth, for a chance to earn a spot in the Open Invitational. After four E3 attendees have been chosen, they will go face-face against four professional gamers for a chance to win the 2017 ARMS championship belt. The four pro gamers are listed below:

  • Alex "Calipower" Valle
  • Kelsy "SuperGirlKels" Medeiros
  • Daniel "Tafokints" Lee
  • Marie-Laure "Kayane" Norindr

If you want a chance to compete against these prosm you'll have to show up to Nintendo's booth anywhere between 10:00 a.m. PDT and 1:00 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017. The competition itself will take place on the same day and will start at 3:30 p.m. PDT (6:30 p.m. EDT)

E3 2017 will be taking place from June 13th, 2017 to June 15th, 2017, with press conferences beginning on Saturday June 10th, 2017. In early May, Nintendo revealed that they will, once again, not be holding a press conference at this year's E3.
