While Ubisoft has promised that Splinter Cell Blacklist will have a host of Wii U-specific features, the developer/publisher has revealed that one specific feature will not grace the system when the game releases near the end of the month.

In an interview with Nintendo Life, Ubisoft Shanghai (the studio tasked with developing the Wii U version) Producer Liu Jun, explained the reasoning behind offline multi-player's omission from the game:

In order to ship at the same time as the other consoles, we unfortunately weren’t able to delve into this feature. But we think Nintendo gamers will be really excited to get the game at the same time as other consoles.

When asked about Off-TV Play, Jun reiterated that, "Yes, Off TV play is fully supported for everything, except offline coop play."

Splinter Cell Blacklist is being developed by Ubisoft Toronto and will be published by Ubisoft for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U on August 20th, 22nd, and 23rd, 2013 in North America, Australia, and Europe, respectively.
