The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed that the infamous Final Fantasy X HD upgrade/remake is in the hands of Square Enix's 1st Production Department, and that the project is just now getting underway.

Normally Square Enix has placed the responsibility of game remastering and creating ports with third party developers, so it's interesting that FFX HD is being handled internally. Nomura told Famitsu that it's not a quicky port job, and would be a "high-definition update," again making it ambiguous as to whether the game is getting a simple HD makeover or a full-blown redesign for the PlayStation 3 and Vita.

While I'm positively giddy about seeing Yuna dance the Sending, I'm a little nervous about what might happen on both ends should even a hair on Tidus' head be out of place from the original. If it's a just a remake, Final Fantasy VII  fans will blow up the planet. But if it truly is a remodeled "remake," die-hard FFX fans just may do the same thing.
